@dj.tigersprout: Thanks, you're too kind. I always shot RAW, so I have greater flexibility. Creating HDR from a single shot is only a matter of creating 2 more copies of the original image, underexposing the first and overexposing the second (with Lightroom this is straightforward). Then I load the three images into Photomatix and tweak the parameters of the "details enhancer" until I get the result I want, usually the more natural-looking it is, the better. It's hard to explain, just download the demo version of photomatix and start playing with the sliders: you'll see the effects immediately.

Last but not least, I export the HDR image to tiff 16 bit, load it into Photoshop and apply noise reduction (you WILL get noise from HDR process, especially if starting from a single shot) with software like neat image.

Maybe when I have time I'll post a tutorial with examples.
